Water Is Light

WIL 250 Turbine

The WIL 250

Purpose
This is a further development of the classical WIL250 turbine. The design reduces the need of complex machining of the components. It also can be built in the way of do-it-yourself (DIY). The design of this turbine includes also a self-made propeller, generator and load controller. The advantage of this turbine is that no milling machine is necessary. Some parts may be manufactured not by metal but by alternative materials like wood or plastics in order to even more adopt to the local conditions.

Technical Data:

  • Flow rate: typically 30 liter/sec (range 25-40 liter/sec, depending on site)
  • Water head: typically 2m (range: 1,5-3m)
  • Rotation Speed: 1000 rpm
  • Output Voltage: 230Vac (50Hz)
  • Output Power: typically 250W
  • Efficiency generator: 75%
  • Overall Efficiency: 50%

Drawings, construction/user manual:
This turbine is still under development, not all sources are complete and available at the moment.
